| The estimated cost for the Cat Country ( the area to shelter cats ) is approximately $10,000. We have appllied for several grants to
help finance the area and are still waiting to hear if we will receive funding. If we do receive funding, we will still need to
provide part of the funds.
Even though we do not officially accept cats since we do not have adequate facilities, people still drop cats and kittens off occasionally. We do not turn any animal away. This makes it difficult on our staff because they have to use make-shift housing for the animals. We are concerned because it is not the most appropriate means of caring for the animals. Our Shelter Supervisor, Jerry, would like at least one cat cage to improve the situation. The cage will cost approximately $600. To try to meet these needs, a Cat Fund has been established. Donations specified for cat cages and Cat Country Improvements will be kept separately from Operating Expense Funds. We will not officially accept cats until the Cat Country is completed, but this will help meet our immediate needs. |  : | |
GRANTS |  : | |
| We have applied for 17 grants and are waiting to hear if we have been accepted. Requests have been made for operating expenses, building improvements, and special programs. We are especially interested in one grant that will enable us to purchase a special trailer to transport animals. A second area of interest is a grant to build the "Cat Country." |  : |
